Instant Search Across Everything

Swifty Team Aug 10, 2025 2 min read

Finding a specific record in a business platform used to mean knowing where to look first. Go to contacts. Search. Go to projects. Search. Go to invoices. Search. If you didn't know which object type held the record you needed, you had to guess and iterate.

Global search changes this completely.

Type Once, Find Anywhere

The new global search bar — accessible from any page with a keyboard shortcut or a click — searches across all your object types simultaneously. Type a company name and see matching contacts, projects, and invoices in the same results panel. Type a document number and reach it directly.

Results appear as you type, without waiting for you to press Enter. By the time you've typed three or four characters, the record you're looking for is usually visible.

Results That Make Sense

Each result shows the object type alongside its name, so you can immediately see what you're looking at. Key fields — status, date, related record name — appear in the result row so you can confirm it's the right record before clicking.

If there are multiple records with similar names, enough context is visible to distinguish them without opening each one.

Keyboard-First Navigation

Global search is designed for keyboard workflows. Open it with a shortcut, type your query, navigate results with arrow keys, press Enter to open. No mouse required.

For team members who spend their day navigating between records, this is significantly faster than the previous menu-and-list approach.

When Search Replaces Browsing

Teams that adopt global search often find it replaces most of their navigation. Instead of opening a contact list and filtering to find someone, they open search and type the name. Instead of navigating to the right section first, they search from wherever they are.

The platform becomes something you query rather than something you navigate. That shift — from browsing to searching — makes working with large datasets fundamentally faster and less mentally taxing.

Finding a record should take seconds. Now it does.
