Tab-Based View Switching
Different people need different views of the same data. A sales manager looking at a customer list wants to see revenue and last contact date. A support rep working the same list wants to see open tickets and last interaction. Both are looking at customers — they just need different angles.
Tab-based view switching lets you define multiple named views on a list, each with its own column set, filters, and sort order. One click switches between them.
Views Remember Everything
Each tab is a complete view configuration: which columns are visible and in what order, which filters are active, how the list is sorted, how many records per page. Switching tabs isn't just a filter toggle — it's a full context switch to a different way of looking at the data.
Tabs are defined in the builder. Give each tab a name, configure its settings, and publish. Every user sees the same tabs on that list.
User Adjustments Within a Tab
Within a tab, users can make their own adjustments — apply additional filters, change the sort direction, show or hide columns. These adjustments are temporary. Switching to another tab and back resets to the tab's defined configuration.
This keeps the shared configuration stable while giving individuals flexibility within a session. The manager who always wants to filter by region can do so without changing the tab definition that everyone else uses.
Tabs vs. Filters
Tabs and filters serve different purposes. Filters are for ad-hoc narrowing of a result set — a temporary lens for the current task. Tabs are for persistent, named views of data — recurring perspectives that a role or workflow regularly needs.
When you find yourself applying the same set of filters repeatedly, that's a signal that a tab would serve better. Define it once; access it with a click every time.
Permissions-Aware
Tab visibility respects permissions. Some tabs can be defined as visible only to users with specific roles. A financial summary tab might be visible only to users with financial access, while operational tabs are visible to everyone. The tab configuration includes role-based visibility rules.
Fast to Set Up
Creating a new tab takes less than a minute in the builder. Configure the view to look the way you want, open the tab manager, and save it as a new tab with a name. The tab appears immediately on the list for all users who have access. No code, no deployment, no wait.
